Why I started this blog: Dying houseplants & metaphorical graveyards
I’ve written this paragraph many times over the last few years. I usually start with my name, my age and what I do for a living. After this particularly dull introduction, I tend to string together two or three lacklustre blogposts, before losing complete interest in my pitiful little blog. It’s like buying a houseplant on offer from Homebase. It looks cute, it would definitely, like, for sure spruce up your room, and it would be great fun to look after. But after a couple of days you lose interest and the plant dies a subtle, slow (maybe even painful?) inconsequential death. This time, I’m determined The Yo Pro Edit will be different.
My name is Lauren, I am 22 years old and I am a self-professed #yopro. I spend my days hurtling between North London, Streatham and Oxford on over-crowded trains. After departing from the wonderful haze of university, I landed a job in the music industry. I’m lucky enough to have an incredible bunch of friends and family, as well as an amazing boyfriend.
This blog is an outlet for my creativity. Back in the day, Myspace and Piczo (remember that beauty?) unleashed my love affair with web design and social media long before ‘blogging’ was ever considered a serious career path. Until now, I’ve buried my head in a large pile of dusty books, watching everyone else produce the kind of content I had always dreamed of creating. A string of GCSEs, A Levels and two degrees later, I’m ready to start working on something exciting. I'm fully aware that the blogosphere is absolutely saturated. This blog isn't a way to make money, or 'have my voice heard'. It's simply a hobby and I'm so excited to bury myself in it!
Anyhow, It’s early days and I have my fingers crossed that this blog won’t end up in (my already packed) metaphorical graveyard. Thanks for your support!
